Just above Three Tree Point, overlooking the Sound, a lookout tower was built around a huge tree by Real Estate Promoter Gunther. He built this tower, which dwarfed nearby trees, so that prospective land buyers could view the area he hoped to include in sales. Later, the tower finally became useful to others, when during World War II it was used by aircraft spotters for the Civilian Defense movement.
